For sale is this 2015 Lowden F-35C with a splendid Adirondack top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, and Koa binding.
Do your research and you’ll see this is a great price for an Adirondack topped Lowden. If you’ve been wanting a Lowden, this one would be hard to beat.
I took this on trade for a pair of 70’s Martins that I had for sale. The Lowden is a lovely guitar. I’m just more of a Martin and Gibson kind of guy.
As I understand it, the Adirondack topped Lowdens are not easily found, nor are they inexpensive. It seems like Lowden builds a lot of guitars with red cedar, walnut, and Sitka tops, but not too many with Adirondack tops.
This particular top is one of the nicest red spruce soundboards I have ever seen. The photos don’t do it justice. It is very responsive and percussive and doesn’t seem to have the stiffness you typically expect in a newer red spruce top.
This guitar would be ideal for the player who wants a super responsive fingerstyle guitar but also with plenty of head room and volume. This one just rings and sustains forever. I’ve considered keeping it because DADGAD tuning sounds absolutely mesmerizing.
Guitar is in excellent condition with only minor signs of use. A few tiny marks on the center of the back, probably from a belt buckle. These are pictured so you can see them clearly. They can probably be buffed out by someone who knows what they are doing.
Guitar smells brand new and appears to have been cared for by someone who knows acoustic guitars.
Frets are great and have plenty of life left in them. Action feels perfect and saddle is nice and tall with plenty left for future adjustments. I can take measurements if desired.
It is currently strung with .012 - .054 John Pearse 80/20.
1.75” nut and standard taper neck that is quite comfortable. Smooth black ebony fretboard. Rosewood bridge. Bone nut and saddle.
Has a factory installed K&K pickup. Original Gotoh tuners work perfectly and are very smooth.
This guitar has an adjustable truss rod, but I haven’t attempted to adjust it because the relief is dead perfect.
I can ship it in the original Lowden black thermoplastic case, or I can ship it in a premium Ameritage hard case with built in humidifier. The Ameritage case retails for about $500 new. I’m indifferent as to which case goes and which one I keep, so there is no up-charge either way.
